Why have a dental Implant?
Dental implants are fixed-tooth alternative to dentures with no false teeth slipping in the mouth. In addition, dental implants are fitted into the bone and do not require the preparation of the adjacent teeth like traditional bridges, thus not exposing adjacent teeth to unnecessary preparation work. What does the treatment involve?
1. Initial consultation + CT Scan
2. Surgery appointment – Typically carried out using local anaesthetic ( or if you wish for conscious sedation for a more relaxed feeling) – the titanium implant is placed into the jaw bone.
3. After 8-12 weeks – Once your bone has attached to the implant and fully integrated, you will attend the clinic for a scan or mould for the new customised tooth to be manufactured.
4. After 2 weeks – New customised crown is fitted to implant.

After surgery it is normal to experience some mild discomfort for 1-3 days. This can be easily managed with some over the counter pain killers such as paracetamol and ibuprofen.

Dr Ali Rifai graduated from Barts and The London Dental Institute in 2008. He entered general practice within mixed NHS and Private dental practices in London and surrounding areas. In 2015, Dr Ali became principal dentist and owner of The Gentle Dental in East Molesey. His ambition is to use the latest techniques as well as the “tried and tested” ensuring that not only will you feel confident that you will be receiving the correct treatment, but also it is of high standard.
During his career he has undergone thousands of hours of further education in the UK and abroad as well as completing a Masters degree in Implant Dentistry. He regularly attends training courses at the Spear Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Dr Rifai is a full member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentists (BACD)., Platinum Invisalign Provider, Six Months Smiles provider, and a member of the Association of Implant Dentistry (ADI). He regularly attends study clubs in London and is a member of the UK study club of the US based Spear Institute.
Outside work , Dr Rifai enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis and golf and travelling the world.
About the clinic
Based in the heart of East Molesey, moments away from Hampton Court Palace The Gentle Dental Implant and Cosmetic Centre now established for over 25 years. A modern dental practice providing everyday general dental treatments to complex restorative multi-disciplinary and life changing dental treatments.
A patient journey begins with an initial consultation with our Treatment Coordinator. A series of photographs and scans will be taken to allow you to discuss your concerns. This is followed by a full oral health examination with one of our highly trained dentists. They will assess your jaw joints, the soft tissues in your mouth, and the health of your gums and teeth in the upper and lower jaw. A full set of X-Rays and Cone Beam CT Scan will be taken as required. Once a diagnosis has been established a customised treatment plan is developed and presented to you. The treatment coordinator will discuss various cost options and arrange for your treatment to be completed.
